En Route - Calm before the Storm

I know we haven't started yet but just a quick post about our journey down.

First result : everyone turned up !  I wouldn't say we were all buoyed with overwhelming enthusiasm but we've turned up !

This was after the first hiccup of the tour (first of many no doubt) - the first minibus that turned up was a 8 seater - we needed to cram in 9 of us and kit - cue mild panic, phonecall later, all sorted.

We've also form our first nickname - Gary 'Gospel' - as he loves spreading the good news ! Sarcastically, I jest of course, because Coxy is forever reminding everyone of the bleak weather forecast and hill gradients. The Grim Reaper could take tips from Gary.

The nervous anticipation wasn't helped though with the weather on the way down. If this is a sign of things to come over the next few days, then I need more
Assos cream !!!

I think the group just want to get it all started now. We've talked about it and stressed enough about it over the last 6 months - it's time to get it done.

I'm definitely in the minority here too - there are far too many cyclists in the group and way too many red scouse supporters - I feel it's going to be a very long fortnight ;(

Only thing to do now:-

Looking forward to getting the first day completed. Hopefully we're not going to need one of these helicopters ;)

Without even leaving Lands End we've toppled £7000.00!

Room mates for tonight - Gospel Gary, Jon P and Ade (who's only now admitted to having a flatuence problem!!)

Right, prob won't be able to sleep tonight but need to - captains'morning briefing at 8.45am ;)

A mention for our hosts Sue and Dave - the Lands End Hostel is a delightful place - far too luxurious for the likes of us.
Anyone mad enough to consider LEJOG - get in touch with these guys - a very warm welcome awaits.

Aptly named piece in Telegraph today too:- the "Reluctant Cyclist"
